Formcraft at NeoCon 2018 Chicago

The Formcraft design team was excited to attend NeoCon 2018, the 50th anniversary of the annual event, on June 11-13. This event has been held at The Mart in Chicago every June since 1969 and is meant to act as the commercial design industry’s platform for innovation.

Over 500 companies, including extensive industry players and emerging companies, displayed new products and services, such as furniture, fabrics, and technology. Over 50,000 design professionals from different industries, such as retail, hospitality, and education, attended to connect and learn from each other.

“My favorite part about NeoCon is coming back with so much inspiration,” Ariana Butera, Senior Interior Designer at Formcraft, said. “I always leave the show excited to implement the new trends and products into my projects. There are many showrooms at NeoCon of manufacturers that I may not have thought to specify from before, but seeing their full range of options offers so many more possibilities!”

Seminars were also available at NeoCon 2018. Our designers attended seminars educating about WELL building standards, and the WELL building includes elements of biophilic design and the importance of physical and mental well-being in the workplace. Seminars were presented by prominent A&D figures such as Ken Wilson and Primo Orpilla.

One trend highlighted at the event was working lounges. As previously mentioned, employees crave spaces to work and relax, and soft furniture can help make this possible. Another trend was furniture with adjustable heights, which supports the claim that employees are looking for flexibility in their workspaces.

We’re already excited to attend NeoCon next year!
